Rabbi Elisha Friedman

Rabbi Elisha Friedman is Rabbi of Young Israel of Forest Hills, and teaches Jewish Philosophy at Yeshiva University. Outside of his classes and lectures at Young Israel, Rabbi Friedman does extensive podcasting, with the goal of making complex Torah ideas widely accessible. One of his podcast projects presents the entire work of Rav Chaim Soloveitchik on the Rambam, one of the central works of Talmud study in our times. Rabbi Friedman is warm and personable, he enjoys making jokes from the pulpit when they don't fall flat, and looks forward to being in touch with our members and anyone else who reaches out!

Rabbi Friedman was ordained at Yeshiva University and is completing a PhD in modern Jewish philosophy from YU's Bernard Revel Graduate School for Jewish Studies. Previously, he served as rabbi in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and as rabbinic intern at Congregation Adereth El in Manhattan. Rabbi Friedman and his wife Yamit are blessed with three children. They are thrilled to be part of the Queens Jewish community and Young Israel of Forest Hills family.
